NJADE/NJALL Conference (April 7-8, 2011)
(Click on the green title above to go to the NJALL website for the conference program.)
This year's NJALL/NJADE Conference on April 7-8 at The Foundation for Educational Administration Conference Center at 12 Centre Drive
Monroe Township, NJ 08831. Directions at http://www.featraining.org/directions.aspx.
Each day has a different focus, with the NJADE presentations on Friday. As we have for the past two years, NJADE will offer four presentation slots, two fifty-minute periods in the morning, and two seventy-minute periods in the afternoon. There will also be an NJADE meeting for all present at lunchtime Friday. We are still in need of a President Elect, so please consider volunteering.
Please remember that, in order to remain in good standing with NADE, NJADE must have a yearly conference as well as a general membership meeting, and, with NJALL graciously allowing us to co-conference, both of these needs are met. Please consider attending one or both days of the conference, especially the 2nd day when NJADE members will present, depending on your availability and/or interests.
Last, but not least, the best news of all for us in these economic times is the fact that the conference fees this year have been reduced to $75.00 per day, and $125.00 for both days.
We look forward to seeing you there in April!
Sharon D’Agastino, President
Jay Peterson, Secretary
Nessie Hill, Treasurer
Gwendolyn Kane, Past President

Global Skills for College Completion
From February 16th-February 19th, developmental education faculty from across the country will converge online to discuss specific pedagogic issues relating to developmental education as part of Global Skills for College Completion (GSCC). The intention of the Jam is to engage hundreds of faculty in learning about, experiencing, and contributing to a new approach to developmental education pedagogy.
There is no cost to register.
What is a Jam? A jam is an online exchange, and like jamming in music, it is about riffing on themes. A group of people 'speak' together using written posts about a subject of importance to them, and the discussion is actively facilitated to deepen the exchange. One of the advantages of the Jam is that it is asynchronous, so that participants can come and go as their schedules permit--reading and commenting when they can.
The Jam Agenda: The Jam will take place from February 16, 3:00 pm EST to February 19, 3:00 pm EST, and each day there will be several discussion threads. Each thread will be launched by a GSCC faculty member and will focus on an element of the emerging GSCC developmental education pedagogy. The conversation becomes interesting as participants 'riff' on the topic, adding their own comments, questions and experiences.
For additional information and updates about the Jam, visit globalskillscc.org or click on this blog title.
